Pirates at the Library

As part of the summer reading program, the Gresham Library hosts fun show for the kids all summer long. A few weeks ago we saw a magician/ventriloquist which the kids loved, but I think yesterday's act will be hard to beat.

We saw Captain Bogg and Salty, a local pirate band, for the first time. I have a few friends who see them in concert with their kids all the time, so I was very curious to see what they were raving about. Well, Captain Bogg and Salty did not disappoint. We arrived at the library at 10:30 for an 11 o'clock show and we still ended up in the middle of the pack. The library was filled to the gills with mommies and their kids dressed in their pirate finery. It was a fun time and we look forward to seeing them again.

On another note, we took my camera into Camera Connection to charge the battery and it still works...but my camera is dead. She will be missed. The guy at Camera Connection said this camera is better than some of the newer models, so it may be tricky to find a new one, just as good, without spending a lot of money. Uggg!

So sorry to hear about your camera. Did the guy at Camera Connection say what was wrong with it?

He just said that sometimes they just quit working. It would cost $40 to have someone check it out and about $120-200 to fix it, which is roughly the cost of a new camera. His example was "it's like if you carried your computer around with you every day...it gets banged up and eventually stops working." I think it's just like anything electronic these days...there's a shelf life and it eventually "expires" or becomes out of date.

It still might be worth fixing, if it would cost $500 - $750 or so to buy a new one...just a thought.

We just ordered one for about $250.

Actually it was $220, with a 2 Gig memory card! And it is (on paper) a better camera than the one we have. Although any camera is currently better than our broken camera, it is currently only a good paper-weight.
