4th of July Recap

Below are a few photos of Chuckie and Dan sliding into the pool, onto the inflatable dolphin while Hayden watches...not sure what to think of his crazy family. (click to enlarge)

Before we barbecued, we served snow cones...and later margaritas (for the adults of course!)

Everyone had a great time!

Fireworks at night

Many of you already know the 4th of July is my brother's favorite holiday. As kids we used to ride our bikes around the neighborhood the next day, collecting all the fireworks on the ground. Aaron would then take all the left-over gun powder and mortars and make his own. Before he could drive, he used to ride his bike all the way over to Washington and buy all the airborne fireworks that are illegal in Oregon. Then when he got a car...and was earning more money...let's just say he probably kept some of those stands across the river in business!
We started off the night with the kids throwing pop-its everywhere.

Here is Aaron's scaled back contribution. This is about one half of what he usually gets, but he is saving his money for guitar making supplies.

Here is half the crew...the others are sitting on the lawn.

The kids liked the sparklers...

Hayden kept saying "wow!" over and over. After the fireworks were done we all made smores by the fire (not caused by the fireworks!)

Must be a guy thing...

Here are Hayden and Zander getting into the used fireworks...just like we used to when we were kids. Hayden liked taking them all apart and Zander liked putting several of the fireworks together to make something new. Uncle Aaron would be proud!

Making a SPLASH!

I was going to post more 4th of July photos, but I got too sleepy...so I will share a video clip of the cannon ball contest with you until I can get more photos uploaded. Participants: Aaron, Chucky, Lanny, Dan and Toni with background vocals provided by Brandon.
