Zander knew right where his back pack went, then he walked into his class and started to play. He loved making color patterns and even after meeting some new kids, he went right back to this activity.
Here is my sweet Zander with his teachers.
Sometime after lunch, Zander came down stairs and showed me what he had been working on. (see picture of alphabet). After I told him how proud I was, I asked him how he did it and he said, "I just sang the song then wrote it down." I think it's interesting that he got the "Z" correct at the end of the alphabet, but at the beginning of his name it's backwards. He is a very quick learner and I can't wait to see all he does this year.

I think that Zander looks really grown up with his "first day" outfit on, I think it was a better choice for pictures, but I think his choice was probably more the real Zander.
Did you notice that the second line is left to right and the third line is right to left, kind of cute!
The kids both look great, and most importantly, happy. I hope the rest of the year goes as well as the first day.
I printed off the pictures for Grandma. She really appreciates seeing them. Thanks so much for keeping us up-to-date on your family!
I hope you are rested up from your white water rafting trip. Jen has gone 3 times. The pics made her want to go again!
Enjoy your special time alone with Hayden!
Love,
Sue
Wow! Zander knows all his ABC's and he's in 4 year-old preschool? You've got a genius on your hands,...all of your electronics will be taken apart.

Yes, I think Zander is pretty much known for wearing at least one piece of clothing backwards (usually his undies) or his shoes on the wrong feet.

Thanks for sharing the photos with Grandma. You guys are half of the reason why I post all these pictures!! Tell Jennifer she should come out west and take a trip down some of our rivers. This was my first time in a raft. I have also gone down in a pontoon and a kayak...so much fun!

All my kids are geniuses! LOL... Natalie knew her ABC's when she was 18 months old!!! We are still working with Hayden, but sadly haven't put as much time into learning his ABC's. I think he will pick them up fast though...I hope!
My baby's babies... what wonderful grands we have!!! Of course they are geniuses. Look at who their parents...
Those photos are important. Then there was the time that my youngest decided to trim a chunk of her bangs for school photos - to about 1/2".
Those first days always gave me mixed emotions. It was hard to see you all go - and be excited about it. (I think I would have wanted just a 'little' clinging to mom although my hair-trimmer did enough of that to make up for the rest of you.)
On the other hand, it is exciting to get some uninterrupted time.
