Weekend Recap

Thanks to everyone who made it to our open house. For those of you who couldn't make it, you really missed out...I don't know if the whole entire house will ever be that clean again...sorry you missed it! Boy, that was a lot of work getting this place to look like we don't really have three small children living here. Of course I did the usual, "quick, hide stuff in the closet," so now I have to go back and try to find where all our "stuff" went.

The kids were happy when they finally got to have some goodies from the chocolate fondue fountain. They had been eyeing it and kept asking me, "when can we see the chocolate fountain?" It was a hit, but then I don't think you can go wrong with marshmallows, bananas and cookies dipped in chocolate, then rolled in peanuts. The cheese fondue was also great, I would expect nothing less from the Rheinlander. Dan went all the way to Vancouver (aka Vantucky) where we pre-ordered some sandwiches, brats, kraut and German potato salad from a German Deli called the Doner Haus. As you can see in the photo, the chocolate fountain doesn't even have to be on to be a kid magnet!

Yesterday, Dan and I spent the day at our friend Bekki's wedding. She asked me to take the pictures, so rather than bring the kids along, we dropped them off for a day with Grandma "Flutter." It was just like a date of sorts. We got there early and helped set up. It was fun taking wedding photos again. It has been almost 12 years since I have done it. The wedding was so layed back that I wasn't too worried about it. It was a Hawaiian theme and I was privileged to be given a fresh lei made of beautiful orchids to wear. After the wedding I downloaded all the pictures and created a slideshow of the top 100-ish photos. Bekki and Wes will come on Wednesday to view them and I can't wait to show them.

Well, that was my weekend in a nutshell. Thanks for stopping by.

Alyssa, John and I had a great time at your party. I even got a present from all the kids that were there. See todays blog for more details... I just wish I could have been there for a longer time. Work was of course slow and John had to go to church again with out me :-(

It was great that you could make it. I didn't even realize you guys left. Next time let us know so we can properly say goodbye. Hope you can get some good use out of those maternity clothes. Those sweaters should come in handy. Sorry about the other "present."

Sounds and looks like your party went off well! Sorry we weren't able to make it this last weekend. Shawn is hunting and my sis and her puppy were staying with me and the kiddos this weekend. I can't wait to see your home and all that you have done to it. I am sure it is just as beautiful and well put together as your last house.
I love those choco fountains. Yum!
How fun! And I have been craving cheese fondue this week! Hmm, maybe tonight? :-) Got a good recipe?
Glad you had a great turnout! I would love to see photos!
I know how much work goes in to cleaning a house for company, especially with 3 little ones. I am constantly shifting paper piles, laundry, toys, shoes, etc. from one area to another and sometimes mail gets in to one of those spots and oops! Where did that bill go??? ANd then it's like, let the search begin! But...the house looks great! :-)
It's a lot of work, but fun, and it sure shows your love for your fam. and friends when you open your home and bless them with yummy food and fabulous fellowship like that. What a blessing you are!
