The last time I remember seeing her was Friday night when I let her out for about 3 minutes...then she decided she wanted back in. I was relieved to have her in the house again as Dan had heard coyotes a few nights before. I'm not saying she got taken by one, but it really has me worried. I don't know how long to wait before telling the kids. What do you say to them? Natalie, will take it the hardest. She loves her kitty so much.
Harley was a stray kitty when she came to us on a cold February night going on 7 years ago. I let her in, fed her and she has been with us ever since. She is a great cat that loves to curl up on your lap, she doesn't claw the furniture or climb up on the counter and she has put up with three todlers pulling on her and learning how to pet kitty "softly."
Harley adjusted to the move great and has loved running and climbing all over the big new yard. She has even made friends with some of the neighboor cats. I have a pit in my stomach and find myself checking the back door every 15 minutes... I hope she is okay, but as more time passes, I don't think she is. This is the last picture I took of her. Natalie thought it was so funny that she was trying to crawl on the table, something she never does.

I am soooooo sorry. I hope she is just out enjoying this new open area she now lives in and hunting mice...maybe when the weather clears she will come back. That is the sad thing about having pets though is that they do pass away so quickly. I hope it does not come to that until the kids are older and can understand more. I will be praying for the kids!
Bogey misses chasing Harley along the fence and has had to make do with a squirrel we call chipper. They were great friends. :-)
Hi, has Harley shown up yet? There was a great show on Hallmark channel last Saturday night called “Out of the Woods”.
It was about an old man who's grandson was with him and the grandson was kind of there unwillingly, but in one section the grandfather said something about the Native Americans and how they would go off into the woods by themselves when they knew that they were about to die.
This is true of not only the Native Americans, but also many animals as well, and probably many other people groups.
Unfortunately, I do not know when it will be on again, but if you get a chance to see it in the near future, it might be good to view it with the children.
You might even see if it is available as a rental.
If not you might just talk to the children about how animals sometimes go off when they are sick or getting old and just never come back.
Another thing you might try is just asking them what they think happened or if they know what happened and then explain how animals take off.
Good luck, it is a difficult topic.
Love,
Dad
So far I have just kept asking Natalie if she has seen Harley lately. I have been doing this for about 3 days now. She tells me she is worried, but I said that she is probably playing in the woods with some of her new cat friends. I don't think Zander is as emotionally invested, so it won't be as hard on him.
Ya know, one of my first thoughts was the same, that maybe kitty went off to well, ya know, go to kitty heaven. I have heard of that too.
But, ya know that song? The cat came back?!
Let's just believe that Harley will be coming home soon. I will be praying for answers for you and Natalie.
I'm sorry. :-(
