Today we spent the day at Dan's Uncle Skip and Aunt Nancy's house in Canby for the annual Rieker pickle party. To get the festivities going, we harvested apples for the organic, homemade apple cider. Yummy!

First the apples had to be washed, sorted and cut. If you look close, you can see the Willamette River behind me. Not a bad view on a sunny day!

Then the cut apples were put into the cider mill where we all got to turn the crank to make the pulp.

Next Uncle Skip put the pulp into the cider press and ooala...apple cider. The apple cider went into the blue bucket then it all got strained through the chessescloth. As you can see, Zander is already testing the first batch of cider. It was a hit!
