Our busy weekend...

Last weekend was super busy...I'm still catching my breath. Let's see, Friday night I signed Zander up for T-ball, drove him to his team pictures, then drove Natalie to Sarah's birthday party. We went to one of those paint your own pottery places and the girls got to pick out a figurine to paint.

The next day, Saturday I got up and had Zander to the opening day for Little League. It was wet and cold and not really knowing what I was doing the whole time, I was completely exhausted by noon when we left.

After we went home for lunch, I drove to Aaron's house for Alexis's birthday party. She turned four this year (on 04/04...her "golden" birthday!
The party was fun and relaxing, but I had to try really hard not to fall asleep...Eventually, it was time to go home.

As you can see, I wasn't the only tired one in the bunch.

Once we got home, we snacked a little more, then went over to our neighbors. They invited us over for dessert because they wanted us to teach them how to play Settlers of Catan, a fun and addicting game Dan and I like to teach to our friends.

The next day was Sunday. We went to church. After church we chatted with friends while the kids played in the "snow" made by the blossoming tree near the church.

After church we went out to Changs Mongolian Grill with the Mickles, then over to Walmart to get some T-ball equipment for Zander. By the time we got home, we had to feed the kids and turn around and go to Awanas...and later that evening work on Natalie's reading homework.

Whew...it was a crazy weekend for sure. Monday was equally crazy as it was the final yearbook deadline of the year. All the pages had to be turned in, so I (along with 4-5 other moms) and Natalie stayed after school in the computer lab until 7 pm. Then we went home, had dinner, did reading homework, got the kids in bed. Then at 9 pm I called the other advisor, we proofed the pages one last time and submitted them on-line...and by 11 pm we were done!

Now it's Thursday and I am just now catching up on things that need to get done around here. I've got most of the dishes done, but I'm way behind on the laundry...my least favorite chore.

So for now I'm going to call it a night.

I remember times like that. That is one reason that I use to get up at 0400 to go to work so that I could be home in the afternoons and evenings to run around or see your, and your brother's and sister's games or meets.

I am glad that I do not have to be that busy now...nothing would ever get done.

Good luck trying to stay caught up!

Oh man Alyssa! Your weekend sounded just as busy as ours. It must just be that time in our lives! :-)
Friday all day we finished cleaning out our old house, we had til the end of the day, rushed over to my Mom's house an hour late for a belated Easter dinner celebration with the fam. b/c they were in CA for actual Easter.
Sat. Shawn got up for the men's bfast at church came home to send me out to get bday stuff for Hailey's belated bday party and run some other needed errands, got back just in time to get ready to drop kiddos off at my parents so we could meet my coworkers for dinner before we all headed out to see Cirque Du Soliel downtown. Afterward we went for dessert, etc. at Montage, got home way later than we should have. Kids stayed overnight, thank goodness some of us got good rest.
Sunday we rushed to church to be part of a baby dedication on stage. A couple in our small group have a baby girl and invited all of us up there with them. After church we rushed to Party City to get balloons, Walmart to pick up some food and last min. items, rushed back home to clean clean clean. Our house was a DISASTER!!!! We called family and told them to be an hour late. Then kiddos came home, family came, we had the party, then rushed everybody out around 5:45 pm b/c we had to leave within the next five minutes to go to church for our small group that meets every sunday evening. We were 15min. late but made it. Afterwards, we ran home had snacks, did Hunter's homework and then bed. Whew!
I feel ya Alyssa!!!! Girl, we need some calgon moments for sure!!! lol

Tammy is so creative and talented with the cakes she makes! Very beautiful!
I'm so happy to see the sunshine! It's a much needed relief from all this rain we've been having!
Is this weekend just as busy for your family? It's a love/hate relationship with the busy weekends huh?

Being a parent is a busy job for sure!

Katie, how was Cirque Du Soliel? We saw them perform in Vegas and it was amazing! I sent you a picture on your facebook page. It's of you and Shawn from our luau a long time ago. I think Zander was a baby.

Debbie,

I can do busy for a while, then I just fall apart. I really need my down time and if I'm too busy, then I overcompensate with my down time and fall even further behind. So yes, love/hate for the most part.

Alyssa--

I love the pictures. The kids all look like they are having a good time on the stops along the way.
Reading this does remind me of times when you all were young. It also reminds me of when you were in high school.

Every minute was packed with going to classes, on your homework, with your friends, running track or cross-country, working at the pharmacy, and working on the yearbook. And, this was how you lived most of the time. Having time to breathe or sleep much wasn't in your schedule.

Of course, when you went to Mt. Hood, some guy out in Boring more than took the place track and cross-country.

Through the years you also had time to be a bit goofy with your siblings. It was a wonder to me that you could do it all. I think you have a huge dose of your dad's 'get it done' gene.
