My Favorite Things Brunch

This afternoon I hosted a "Favorite Things" brunch. Due to the cooler weather today I set up inside...but I would have loved to have everything set up outside...maybe next time.

We started off with chilled Raspberry Soup...

...and fruit with dip.

Then we shared puff pancakes topped with strawberries and a garden frittata.

Next we had cheesy artichoke triangles and spinach salad with raspberry vinaigrette served in parmesan cups.

We shared funny stories and had a good old time.

For dessert we had raspberry cheesecake/coffee cake.

My sister-in-law Tami showed us all how to make fondant roses and we all got to try it out ourselves. It was tricky at first, but I think I got the hang of it...very fun!

Everyone brought their favorite things to share and we all went home with some great gifts. It was so much fun...now I'm stuffed!

Thank you!!! It was soooo much fun. The best part was that when I got home, Aaron said he had a good day with the girls. So I didn't have to feel bad about being gone for half of the day!

So that's what you were doing today... Jelous!!! I tried calling you around 4 but it looks like you were busy. How do I get in on some of the girls day out things? Is it like the clapping club that you didn't let me join?

Tami, I'm glad you had a good time. Thanks for helping us learn about making roses. I always like learning a new skill.

Andrea, yes it is like the clapping club, no "ice girls" allowed. What was the clapping club all about, do you remember? I almost called you today as my friend Bekki had to stay home at the last minute...oh, well, maybe next time. By the way, who took that cute baby photo? She must have been a cool person!

Alyssa, I felt so pampered today coming to your brunch. I loved every little detail. The flowers smelled so sweet and the way you arranged the table with those sweet birdie cups was so cute.

I enjoyed the lesson in the fondant roses even though I was only able to stay to make one. I was so proud of my little rose. I tried so hard to keep it safe on the way home and was trying to drive slower than normal b/c my five cupcakes were sliding around a bit on the back roads. Anyway, I hit a corner a little to fast and put on the brakes and those 5 little cupcakes shot out toward the dash board like bullets! I did however manage to save two, including my fondant rose one!!!
Oh, well.

BTW, Shawn loved his little goodies I brought home for him, the artichoke triangles and my kids shared the chocolate fortune cookie. I loved your cake-OMG-so good.

Thanks for the fun time and thanks for once again all your thoughtful planning!

I can totally imagine your cupcakes flying around and sticking to your dash...I laughted at that, then realized what a sticky mess. I'm glad I could give my friends a special brunch. I love doing things like that, but with 3 busy kids it doesn't happen as often as I would like...oh, and those birdie cups are actually candle holders, but I bought them last year cause I thought they would make cute serving dishes. Saturday was their debut.

Yeah, I was thinking it would be fun to do a recipe swap some day.
